First Lady Melania Trump underwent a surgical procedure on Monday to treat a benign kidney condition and will stay at the Walter Reed medical center for the remainder of the week.
According to USA Today, the first lady is expected to make a full recovery, but will remain at the hospital for safety precautions.
In a statement to the media, Melania’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said the first lady underwent an embolization procedure to treat the kidney condition.
“The procedure was successful and there were no complications,” Grisham said. “The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.”
President Donald Trump is expected to visit her at the hospital, which is located in Maryland, sometime on Monday and Tuesday.
“The president spoke with the first lady before the procedure, and the president has spoken with the doctor after the procedure,” another White House official said.
Many on social media wished the first lady luck and said they would be praying for her to have a full recovery:

Melania is a great first lady and has done an amazing job since arriving at the White House a year and a half ago.
Despite constant attacks from abhorrent liberals, many have come together during this time to wish the first lady a speedy recovery so she can get back to the White House.
